1. A Powermatic PJ-882HH jointer
This one has a helical cutter head that offers a much better quality of cut, less noise and longer lasting knives than conventional ones. At 88″ (223.5 cm) long x 28″ (71 cm) wide x 44″ (112 cm) high, this “little” baby weighs 610 lbs, or approximately 277 Kg and offers a cutting width of 8″ (20cm). Here is the beast in pictures:

3. Upgrade
After a complete refurbishment, I replaced the original V-belts with fiberglass link belts:
3.1 Advantages over standard V-belts:
- They eliminate vibrations;
- They transmit more power;
- They are significantly quieter;
- They last up to 15 times longer;
- They tend to stretch much less;
- They are unaffected by oil and heat.
