Over the years, I provided or made myself accessories to optimize my work. Here is the list of those I find indispensable and who have particularly helped me in my work.

2. Router

When we build dovetail drawers and we can not made them by hand, a jig quickly becomes essential.

I chose for Porter Cable 4210 model and, with a little practice, we can build great drawers.

Advantages:

  • Accurate;
  • Effective because it allows to do two sides at once;
  • Interchangeable templates to obtain different patterns.

Mostly, a template is made to increase our precision and productivity. I will not go into the “doing everything by hand” debate, as with dovetails, this is not the subject of this article.

Although expensive, it is the best system I used to make repetitive and accurate holes in 32 mm increments.

During the renovation of my kitchen and other built-in furniture, this one proved to be a most precious ally.

Advantages:

  • Easy tu use;
  • Very precise;
  • Safer.

I will do an article on the System 32.

3. Sharpening

I love Veritas tools. They are worth their weight in gold and their quality is always irreproachable. This template is no exception to the rule.

To be effective, sharp tools, such as wood chisels, must be sharp like razor and the cutting angle, bevel, accurate. To help us in this task, there are many templates but, that of Veritas, is really very versatile.

Advantages:

  • Polyvalent;
  • Very effective;
  • Adjustable bevel.

4. Table Saw

Home made…

A “must”, if any, to make sharp cuts on the table saw.

Advantages:

  • Precise cuts without splinters;
  • Safer;
  • Relatively simple to make or obtain commercially.

Some time ago, I did an article on the subject. You can read it here.
